Miss. Jasmina Jones
"I've realized why I love photography- its so similar to success, sometimes it takes 100 shots to get the perfect one".
I have always cherished those moments that were overlooked by others. It was not until being accepted into the Hampton University's Scripps Howard School of Journalism and Communications that I gained the professional skills needed to excel as a journalist and public relations' communications editor. My first and current camera is a Nikon D3000, which I purchased upon completing photojournalism course in 2012. Since then, I have sought and taken advantage of various opportunities, photographing and writing about both public and private events, such as parades, concerts, engagements and family holiday occasions.
Amongst the variety of photographs I take, I must say that my most appreciated are landscape and action/news. I am obsessed with the ability to tell a story through one photograph.
In 2014, I obtained a occupation with Hampton University as the Editor-In-Chief of the university yearbook (an annual publication dedicated to the graduating seniors for the current year). I also balanced a position with Fort Monroe Authority, as a Multimedia and Event Assistant. I graduated from Hampton University with a Bachelor of Arts in Strategic Communications (Public Relations) in December 2014 and am currently pursuing avenues to write editorials, while working on my novel and community outreach. The work developed during my time with Fort Monroe Authority and Hampton University displays my growth in photography and my evolving vision.
I aspire to continue developing my photography skills, but I also desire to excel in writing/editing. I can honestly say that writing and photography are passions of mine. There is no greater way to express yourself than through your work.
